Sant Llorenç des Cardassar is the main nucleus of the municipality of the same name and is located in the northeast of the island of Mallorca. In 1892 it became independent from Manacor and began its journey as a municipality, so much so that it is in this inland village where the administrative center of the municipality is located. Old sayings say that a town is born where water is found, and so it was in the case of Sant Llorenç des Cardassar; the Pou Vell, the main enclave for the water supply, once guaranteed the supply of this precious good for the people and animals of this town. The village is located in a valley, surrounded by a great natural and agricultural landscape. Its possessions (typical Mallorcan agricultural estates), lands, orchards and flocks, are very representative of Sant Llorenç, closely related to the countryside and rural traditions. With the construction of the first hotels on the coast, tourism, construction and associated activities have been the economic engine of the municipality, which has adapted to the new times.
