The museum has been open since 1985 and contains valuable documents, such as the bibliographic collection of Guillem Colom, a famous geologist who was born in this beautiful town in the north east of Mallorca. It also has various rooms for temporary and permanent exhibitions. Sóller is a paradise for botanists and flower-lovers. In addition to its Museu Balear de Ciències Naturals (Natural Science Museum), there is a Botanical Garden with native Mediterranean flora, the result of many years of investigation. Due to its characteristics, it is unique in the Illes Balears. Native flora of other Mediterranean islands Represented here are the native flora of other Mediterranean islands, with plants from Corsica, Sardinia, Sicily, Malta and Crete. Also on display is a collection of the flora from the Canary Islands, with ecosystems similar to those of the Mediterranean. Another very interesting element is the combination of traditional popular architecture with botany. There are four marjades, walls in the form of steps made with the dry stone technique, and on each step a series of ornamental plants, medicinal flowers, fruit trees and vegetables are grown. Since it was created, the centre has carried out important work in the investigation and preservation of plants. In 1997 the Fundació Jardí Botànic de Sóller (Botanical Garden of Sóller Foundation) was set up thanks to the sponsorship of Francesc Arbona Colom, and is in charge of conserving this natural heritage of the Illes Balears. To this end, its has one of the five germoplasm banks which exist in Spain, where the seeds of the most threatened species are kept frozen. Tuesday to Saturday from 10 am to 8 pm. Sunday from 10.30 am to 1.30 pm
Costa Nord is an initiative by actor Michael Douglas who, like many others before him, has discovered the charms of Mallorca¿s north coast. Located in an old village estate in Valldemossa, Costa Nord Cultural Centre strives to imbue visitors with the fascination that the landscape of the Tramuntana Mountains in the north of the island of Mallorca exercises, to contribute to making its landscape, flora and customs known and to help preserve them, so that others may enjoy them in the future. Nowadays it is also the seat of the Balearic islands foundation for the sustainable development Costa Nord Cultural Centre is also a living centre, open to disseminating artistic creation through concert cycles, exhibitions and all kinds of cultural activities. Mediterranean Nights aspires to recreate the spirit of Archduke Louis Salvador and many other artists and writers who have discovered and loved the Tramuntana Mountains, its cultures, landscape and customs. Through a concert cycle which fuses styles and traditions, respect for the different cultures that share the Mediterranean and curiosity about new ways to create and experiment, Mediterranean Nights is emerging as a unique event without precedent in the island of Mallorca's cultural offer. Concerts are held during the summer and take place outdoors on the grounds of Costa Nord Cultural Centre, under the same stars which illuminated sailors' courses and centenary olive tree branches.
Llorenç Villalonga was one of the most important Mallorcan intellectuals in the 20th Century. It is to the life and works of this literary figure that the museum in Binissalem bearing his name is dedicated. Llorenç Villalonga (Palma 1897-1980) studied medicine, but from early on his passion was literature. In 1924 he began to collaborate with the local newspaper El Día and in 1931 he published his new novel, Mort de dama, a huge success in those years. Many European artists came to Mallorca in that decade in search of refuge and because of them the island became an important focus of intellectual resistance. Llorenç Villalonga was in contact with them and attended social gatherings and events where he steeped himself in the new ideas that were stirring Europe. He lived in his house which has since been converted into a museum throughout the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939) and then later he spent the summer months there. The house, known as Can Sabater, was built in the 15th Century although it has been extended and renovated on several occasions. The same furniture has been preserved in his study The house been preserved by and large as it was with the same furniture that he used in his study and the original kitchen on the ground floor. It has an extensive garden with a well in the centre, a cellar and a wine press. The first floor has a permanent exhibition of the life, thought and works of the author. His production was very diverse: he published five books of stories, five volumes of theatre, more than 1.500 articles in the press and fifteen novels among which Bearn (1961) and the futuristic Andrea Vítrix (1974) are best known. Photographs, personal objects, letters, manuscripts, post cards, books, press articles and videos all found their way into the world of this eminent intellectual. The centre also has a library of more than a thousand volumes with a consulting room for researchers. Numerous activities and cultural competitions are organised here throughout the year among them the Premio Casa Museu Llorenç Villalonga, a prize for unedited texts in Catalan.

Joan Alcover Maspons (1854-1926) was a prominent figure in Mallorcan society of his day. Poet, politician and essayist, he organised salons in his home that were frequented by the islanl's greatest literary figures and visiting artists This cultural centre, inaugurated in May, 2008, conserves his literary and personal items. Manuscripts, letters, photographs, books, furniture and other items of interest from his private and personal life make up the house-museum's collection. The centre also offers facilities for cultural activities, such as a projection room, conference hall, multi-purpose hall and library, in addition to a garden and terrace complementing the grounds. Pau Alcover bequeathed this house, which belonged to his father, Mallorcan poet Joan Alcover, to Obra Cultural Balear to disseminate the writer's work and promote the Catalan language and culture.
The museum is located in a 17th century house and displays traditional objects from the beginning of the 20th century. Here you can learn about the customs, costumes and tools typical of the rural environment of Mallorca. In one of its rooms the traditional Mallorcan costumes are exhibited, while in another one it is possible to contemplate rooms such as the kitchen and the bedroom, furnished in the Mallorcan style. You can also find precision instruments and woodworking tools.
The museum provides a very interesting and educational explanation about prehistoric Mallorca that allows visitors to get to know what life was like over 2000 years ago in the taloyotic settlement of Son Fornés. The museum is housed in a faithfully restored eighteenth-century flourmill, a splendid introduction to one of the finest examples of traditional Mallorcan architecture. A wide range of entertaining activities are offered to be enjoyed with family or friends.
It is known as Terra del Fang (land of clay) and not in vain, since Marratxí is the municipal district which concentrates the most renowned potters of Mallorca. This locality is the site of the Museu del Fang, a place devoted to the world of pottery in its multiple forms. Marratxí is a municipal district in the Raiguer region in which, curiously, there is no town of this name. Two of its towns are Pòrtol and Sa Cabaneta, where the tradition of pottery-making dates back to the 18th Century. It was during this time that the ollerías and potter's shops which came from neighbouring Santa Eugènia were set up there, introducing a craft which has been handed down from fathers to sons. Now, a wide selection of the different varieties of clay and pottery are brought together in the Museu del Fang (Pottery Museum). The museum is set up in es Molí de Sa Cabaneta, an old mill which has been specially restored for this purpose. The museum's collection includes around nine hundred pieces; a little under half of these correspond to traditional pottery and the rest to artistic pieces. Pieces from the 19th and 20th Centuries Part of this collection has been obtained through the popular Fira del Fang (Pottery Fair), which since 1984 has been held at the beginning of May and which is a unique occasion to view the work of a good number of potters. A competition is held during this fair in which participants have to donate one of their works, which go into forming part of the museum's artistic collection. Most of the pieces are from the 19th and 20th Centuries. Some of them have a story worth mentioning, such as the pot dated 1900 made in Cuba by Joan Garau, a craftsman who was born in Pòrtol and who emigrated at the end of the 18th Century to what was then a Spanish colony. Through the distinct collections, different varieties and techniques for working the pottery and clay can be studied. The olleria corresponds to objects in red clay; the gerreria, in white clay; and the siurells is a section devoted to one of Mallorca's real symbols. These are figures painted white with flecks of red and green. They represent different characters and have a whistle at the back. Their origin is unknown, although similar pieces from the Muslim period have been found. Another of the aims of this museum is to recover the history of the town, by acquiring pottery items which have been made by craftsmen who have already retired or died.
A fourteenth-century defence enclosure and rural manor home, it houses Manacor's archaeology and history museum and features halls that display the local ethnology and examples of miniature furniture. The History Museum of Manacor was originally called the Archaeology Museum of Manacor, since it was made up of the collection donated by Mn Aguiló i Pinya, who discovered the early Christian basilica and series of buildings in Son Peretó in 1908. Nowadays, the museum offers exhibits on the different historical periods that followed one another in Manacor and Mallorca's eastern zone in general. It not only has strictly archaeological items on display, but also items from the lesser arts, such as a collection of farm machinery and tools, Roman artefacts found on the sea bed, a coin collection that spans Roman times to the present and late nineteenth-century ethnographic items, such as a shoe sewing machine and ice cream cart, among others. The museum also oversees archaeological excavations in the zone. Several Byzantine silos were found for the first time in Mallorca in the village of s'Hospitalet Vell, as was a necropolis for women with items such as bronze rings and sewing needles. Efforts are being made to showcase the basilica, baptistery and necropolis at the site in Son Peretó and shore up and restore their structures. Many of the pieces found there are now in the museum and others are currently being studied. 16.09 a 14.06: Monday to saturday 10-14, 17-19.30 Sunday 10.30-13 Tuesday
