The Galería Maior was founded in Pollença in 1990. Since then it has made great efforts to promote contemporary art. For this reason, major artists on the national and international scene have shown their works here, including Sicilia, Broto, M.A. Campano, Xavier Grau, Ferran García Sevilla and A.R. Penck, among others. The gallery takes part in international art fairs like Arco, Loop, Artcologne, among others. It also has experimental workshops, where artists such as Amador, Broto, Campano, Eva Lootz, A.R. Penck, Susana Solano, Jürgen Partenheimer, Darío Urzay, Mónica Fuster and Nicholas Woods have worked using different techniques and materials. In July 2004 the Galería Maior opened another space in Palma de Mallorca, more focused on conceptual art and more alternative in bent.
