Fashion and Accessories | PollençaWHAT WE DO: hito specializes in heirloom-quality jewelry and useful and unusual homeward located on the Calvario Steps in Pollenca, Mallorca. We are working on collaborations with artists and craftsmen from Mallorca specializing in handmade things for the home- things made with a conscience and made specially for hito. hito means "landmark, monument, marker, cairn" and can be a literal marker, like a pile of stones on a trail, or a life event such as a birth. The store is a carefully curated collection of jewelry, clothing, and utilitarian objects and textiles that serve as markers in daily life; candles, teapots, duvets, scarves, aprons and towels. The idea being that daily rituals can be hitos if one uses artful tools. The gallery is an exhibition space showing the work of contemporary modern artists. WHO WE ARE: Danica Wilcox was born in Upstate NY, and lived for many years in NYC. She is a designer and a partner in Conroy & Wilcox fine jewelry in New York City and worked for many years for Vogue as a freelance- stylist. In 2010 Danica Wilcox fell in love with the Tramuntana mountains and the artisanal traditions of Mallorca while visiting to work on an organic farm with her mother, the food writer, Kip Wilcox. In May 2012 she set up hito in Pollenca. Wilcox now lives in Pollenca and when she is not working she travels the world hunting treasures for her store.
